Neftali Feliz returned to the bump last night after an 11 day absence. The rest proved helpful, as he went 5IP, giving up 1ER on 1H, a home run to Chad Huffman. He struck out seven and walked a lonesome 1 batter. Damn right Neftali. Do your thing.
Matt Wieters. I have been on your case about the power outage, but no more good sir, no more. 2/5 with 3R, 2HR, 4RBI and 1K. Welcome back. We're still looking at weeks until the call-up.
Brett Wallace went 2/5 with 1R and a double.
Brackman, Montero and Price DNP.
It is fun to see some of these guys really heat up.
Jacoby Ellsbury should be in AAA. That is all.

Prospect Roundup with a Vengeance
Sweet Jesus Montero
5/8: 1/4 with a walk and 2Ks.
5/9: 2/5, 2 doubles, with 2RBIs.
5/11: 2/4 with a R, a triple, and 2RBIs. Big man legging out the triple, love it.
5/12: 2/4 with a R, a K, and 2RBIs.
now for 5/13...D Day...
5/13: 4/5 with an RBI. Good lord.
His season totals: .336/.392/.563, an OPS of .955. This is an improvement, an improvement! on his 2008 numbers: .326/.376/.491, an OPS of .868. So Montero gained OBP and power when he moved up a level in the minors. This guy is for real.

Imagine what he'll look like when he starts doing bicep curls once a week. Pictures all from Riveraveblues.com and commenter Andy. Hope they don't mind.
David Price
Still on that pitch count limit, Price went 4.2IP on 5/12, giving up 4H, 2ER and striking out 5. They have really limited his innings and pitches: only 26 IP on the year.
Neftali Feliz
Has not pitched since 5/3. Don't know what the story is on him.
Andrew Brackman
Brackman had himself a very fine game on 5/11, going 8IP, giving up 7H, 2ER, walking only one batter, and striking out 9. That's the kind of breakout game you love to see.
Matt Wieters
5/8: 0/3 with a BB
5/9: 2/4 with a double, 2RBIs, and 2R
5/10: 1/2 with 2BBs, a double and a K
5/11: 1/3 with a BB and a K
5/12: 0/5
5/13: 0/4
Not exactly making his case, is he? The OBP is nice, but the last part of the tripleslash is a bit bothersome: .263/.366/.368. No reason to sour on him long-term, obviously; the power will come.
Matt LaPorta
So far with the Indians, LaPorta is 4/18 with 3BBs. Of those 4 hits, 1 was a HR and 1 was a double. His tripleslash is .222/.364/.444, which isn't actually all that bad. Not everyone can be Ryan Braun (click through and check his rookie year stats).
And finally, our latest addition to the Prospect Roundup, Sir Brett Wallace...
5/8: 0/3 with a BB and 3Ks. Way to go Brett!
5/9: 0/4 with a K. Time to drop him...
5/10: 2/6 with a double and 2R. Ok, maybe not.
5/11: 3/4. NIiiice.
5/12: 1/4 with a K.
5/13: 0/3 with 2BB, 1R and 1K.
His tripleslash for the year: .282/.403/.431, and OPS of .834. Not too shaaaaaaaby.
Next up on the Peep This Prospect: my current favorite non-Yankee prospect and strikeout fiend Tommy Hanson.

Prospect Roundup: Weekend Action
David Price went 3 and 1/3 innings on Sunday night, giving up 3 ER, 4H, walking 4, and striking out 5. That moved his ERA up to 3.70 on the season, but his K:IP ratio is still excellent, at 20:17. K:BB ratio isn't anything to be too unhappy with either, at 20:8.
Neftali Feliz has not pitched since 4/21. The Oklahoma City RedHawks page says he's pitching tonight so that ought to be good.
The Inexorable Force Known As The Wieters had himself a decent weekend.
Friday, 4/24: 0/2 with 2BBs and 2R, no Ks.
Saturday, 4/25: 1/4, a double, with 2Ks.
Sunday, 4/26: 1/3, a double, with 1 RBI, 1BB, and 1K.
His season line: .270/.400/.405, .805 OPS, 1HR, 2RBI. Awaiting the power, then the call-up...
Andrew Brackman pitched on Saturday, 4/25, putting a line of: 4.2IP, 7H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 3Ks. His ERA is an ugly 5.23, but only through 4 starts. Interestingly, his K:IP ratio is almost equal to Price's, at 20:20.2. His K/BB is identical to price, at 20:8. If he can keep those BBs down on the season, look out.
Sweet Jesus hasn't disappointed one bit so far this year. So far on the season his line is: .355/.412/.516, .928 OPS. 2HR, 10RBI in 16 games. Wow. He's playing at High A Tampa. His last three games:
Friday, 4/24: 3/4 with 1R.
Saturday, 4/25: 0/4 with 1K.
Sunday, 4/26: 1/5 with 2Ks.
Finally, Stephen Strasburg had himself a decent outing on Friday night, 4/25. His line was a respectable 7 IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, aaaaaaaand 14K. Oh man, oh man.

Prospect Roundup
Price, Wieters, Feliz and Brackman all DNP. We need to add some hitters to this list.

Prospect Watch
David Price - 5 IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 5Ks. Not a bad outing. The IP looked low to me, so I checked out the game box score. Price only threw 71 pitches, which means he's either on an innings count or a pitch count. Smart move by Tampa.
Neftali Perez - 3 IP, 7H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 2K. It happens. Put the call-up on hold for now.
Brackman, Wieters and Strasburg all DNP.

Neftalia
Neftali Feliz made his second start of the season on April 16th. Over 5 IP, Feliz let in 2 ER while walking 2, and giving up 3 hits. He struck out 5, which means his K/9 rate is exactly 9.
Check this nice little writeup on Feliz over at Bleacher Report. Maybe Feliz is about to follow Holland to the 'pen.
